Siem WIS was established in February 2005 and is a part of Siem Industries, witch employ around 7000 persons.

Siem WIS is a Norwegian Oil Service company located at Sotra, outside Bergen City.

Siem WIS has developed new drilling technology for challenging reservoirs. With Siem WIS technologies it is possible to achieve a safer and more efficient drilling operation.

The products are typical applications for Closed Loop Drilling including Managed Pressure Drilling operations.

Siem WIS has built and commercialized the world`s best system for sealing of annulus during drilling, stripping and tripping. The patented UNIQUE SEAL SOLUTION will be an important contributor to increase the Managed Pressure Drilling method due to increase lifetime, barrier philosophy, cost and safety.

Managed Pressure Drilling is expected to be the next growth area as long as several of the huge oil companies make MPD a mandatory service. MPD services are increasing due to the global challenges with depleted reservoirs, drilling of additional- and infield wells. The demand to achieve a more constant well pressure during drilling and tripping operations is increasing as a function of the depletion of the reservoir.

Siem WIS has the right setup with operational and QHSE competence to expand into MPD/CLD operations.
